Our Response to COVID-19
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
At the beginning of this year this verse formed part of our vision as we were stepping into a new year and new season. Little did we realise just how poignant this verse would be at this moment in time.
Life as we know it has changed dramatically, each day we are presented with something ‘new’ as we navigate this COVID 19 situation.
As a church we will be entering a ‘new’ season, an uncertain time but relying on a faithful God. Church will be changing, all ministries will be suspended until the end of April (we will update this as time goes on).
We have a special one off service on Sunday 27th September back in the village hall. We have missed getting together with our church family and worshiping God. We have planned just one service to give us an opportunity to meet, adhering to the government guidelines and the review how it went as we plan returning fully.
We are learning as we go and want to make sure we can create a safe environment as well as having time together to encounter God.
Each Sunday we will continue to email out resources to help us focus our attention on God, as we are in our own homes during a time when we would normally be in church and for those unable to physically join us.
As we continue to do our services online we will still do regularly live Kids Church sessions and Coffee and Communion on Zoom.
Our plan as we navigate through this time contains 3 key areas; Focus, Support and Reach.
‘Turn your eyes upon Jesus look full, in his wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace’.
Now more than ever we need to focus on God we can do this in the following ways:
Psalm 100: 1-5
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Let's turn our attention and worship God through this time of chaos.
1 Chronicles 16:11
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Read the Bible
‘Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ’.
Read/hear the good news, before listening to the bad.
At this time, more than ever we want to support each other through this very trying time. We will be doing this through the following ways; continuing to run our Prayerline, setting up a team of people able to offer practical help others and checking in on each other.
Church is not the building, it’s the people. Let’s take ‘church’ to our world and share the good news of the gospel.
We will be stepping up our community involvement and being creative in the way we bring hope to a seemingly hopeless situation.
We do not know what the future holds but we do know who holds it – God. We are continually in prayer for our church family, and community. We really believe that this is a time for the church to rise up, and for God to move and do a 'new' thing in our world.
