Carol and Ginny in the Congo

Updated: May 2, 2020

Carol and Ginny are missionaries with CAM International and are working with people in Lubumbashi, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Covid-19 is currently rampant in Kinshasa (the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo) but at the moment very few cases have been diagnosed in Lubumbashi, the big city where our friends work. Social distancing is in place, however, which is affecting their work.

Please pray for:-

* Their weekly TV programme (Victory in Jesus) which is still going out.

* A booklet called The Victorious Christian Life which is still being printed in Swahili, Kiluba and French. This gives 10 lessons for new Christians. It is widely distributed. BUT Schools, churches, courts are closed due to social distancing.

* Panic buying has led to a rise in food prices. Some people are only eating 3 or 4 times a week.

* Carol and Ginny cannot carry out their village evangelism or their prison ministry.

Update - May 2020

During recent weeks, the average person has found it more and more difficult to survive.

Congolese live from day to day & stock piling is not an option. So as certain restrictions have come into force, like the closing of churches, schools, eateries etc at present, this has affected many people.

A couple of days ago 2 of our Pastors were saying that widows and needy who would normally receive something on a Sunday after church have been struggling. The same is true for teachers who are not paid when they done work! Then yesterday another Pastor came round and told us the entire maize crop that he had been waiting to harvest had been stolen. We are not in lockdown as such and can still circulate but the wearing of masks is now obligatory here. Most people of course don’t have masks and try to avoid being in the wrong place at the wrong time!
